1. Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The world’s biggest and most famous festival, the Carnival in Rio, is an absolute must-see! The vibrant parades, colorful costumes and amazing samba music make it a truly unforgettable experience. I myself haven’t been yet, but it’s been on my bucket list for ages. And while I most likely won’t manage to go this year, maybe you will!
2. Carnival in Venice, Italy
Another Carnival that is well worth the visit. You get drawn in with its elegant masks and lavish costumes, and stay for the mystical and mesmerizing atmosphere of this lagoon city. Don’t be shy to step into a DIY costume yourself and get yourself a gorgeous mask to fully embrace the experience. On that note, make sure to cover yourself in multiple layers, the more the better! It is cold!
3. Las Fallas in Valencia, Spain
Another event that’s absolutely worth experiencing! The colorful sculptures are massive and are later burned to dust in a spectacular finale. The scent of fresh churros fills the streets during this time. Through day and night, the city keeps you captivated with non-stop celebrations. The atmosphere is truly electric! But be prepared – Valencia doesn’t do quiet during this festival, and firecrackers will be going off at all hours! And I mean, ALL hours.
4. Cherry Blossom Viewing in Japan
The cherry blossom season in Japan is iconic, or so I hear. In cities like Kyoto and Tokyo, people gather in parks to enjoy the fleeting beauty of the sakura blossoms. In my mind, this is one of the most peaceful and breathtaking experiences you can have. So far, I haven’t had the pleasure to experience it myself, but according to the internet, these are the best times per region to visit:

🌸 Fukuoka (South): Mid to Late March
🌸 Sendai (North): Early to Mid-April
🌸 Hokkaido (Furthest North, Sapporo): Late April – Early May
5. La Tomatina in Buñol, Spain
Every August, the streets of Buñol turn into a red sea, as participants throw tomatoes at each other in a spectacular food fight. Let me tell you, it is chaotic, messy, and absolutely unforgettable! You won’t experience anything like this anywhere else! Therefore, forget what you’ve been told your whole life about not throwing food around and join the festivities! 6. Cartagena, Colombia
A vibrant port city bursting with colorful buildings, lively streets, and a rich mix of culture and history. The locals, well aware of the country’s history, will always greet you with a warm hello and make sure that you feel welcome. At night, the city comes alive so go ahead and enjoy the best Mojito you’ll ever try or dance Salsa in the middle of the streets!
7. Prague, Czech Republic
A fairy-tale charm city that you don’t want to miss out on! As a proud czech girl I might be biased, but Prague is one of the most gorgeous cities in the world. By day, walk the town filled with medieval castles, cobblestone streets, and stunning architecture. By night, go out and party like never before with the world’s best beer in hand!
8. Amsterdam, Netherlands
A destination that never gets old! Amsterdam’s canals, beautiful bridges, and iconic narrow houses create a picturesque scene. It’s not just about sightseeing, though. The locals are super friendly, I have a theory as to why, and the vibe is uniquely relaxed. Trust me, Amsterdam will steal your heart! Only one side-note, do not get in the way of the cyclists. They will take you down without a second thought.
9. Istanbul, Turkey
A city where East meets West, I have heard only the absolute best about Istanbul. From its stunning mosques and vibrant bazaars to its rich history. For 2025 my travel plans definitely include sipping tea by the Bosphorus, maybe I’ll see you there!
10. Sintra, Portugal
This magical town makes you feel like a princess, no debate there! With its dreamy castles and lush gardens to its enchanting atmosphere, you can finally feel like the main character in your own fairytale. In truth, there are not many places I consider worth visiting more than once, but Sintra has made the list!
11. Marrakech, Morocco
Marrakech is pure sensory overload. It might sound negative, but if you open your mind and heart it can be in the best way possible. When wandering through the lively Souks, you will meet the most amazing people. Don’t be shy to get invited into a shop for tea and embrace the hospitality.
12. Cinque Terre, Italy
This destination is not a city in itself, it is better! A breathtaking collection of colorful villages perched along Italy’s stunning coastline. It is surely a destination you won’t soon forget. Whether you’re hiking the scenic trails or enjoying fresh seafood by the sea, Cinque Terre is a gem well worth the visit! Prepare for high prices though, as it is a well-known gem.

As a lover of ancient greek history, Athens was an ulimate bucket list goal of mine. I can’t even begin to describe how amazed I was by the iconic Acropolis, the bustling markets, all the historic ruins. And please, don’t miss out on the local cuisine! Best thing to do is to leave the touristy areas and find a restaurant that doesn’t even own English menus. Then you’ll get the food that dreams are made of!
14. Kyoto, Japan
Everyone always speaks of Tokyo, and while I will not miss out on that city, I’ve heard many travelers say that Kyoto was their favorite! With its stunning temples, serene gardens, and delicate tea ceremonies, Kyoto is said to feel like stepping into another world – a peaceful escape that will leave you with unforgettable memories.
